Hand Tracking with an Extended Self-Organizing Map
نویسندگان
چکیده
We introduce an extension of the self-organizing map for performing 3D hand skeleton tracking. We use a range camera for data acquisition and apply a SOM-like learning process within each frame in order to capture the hand pose. Our method uses a topology consisting of 1D and 2D segments for an improved representation of the hand. The proposed algorithm is very e cient and produces good tracking results.

Self-organizing maps for hand and full body tracking
Touch-free gesture technology opens new avenues for human-machine interaction. We show how self-organizing maps (SOM) can be used for hand and full body tracking. We use a range camera for data acquisition and apply a SOM-learning process for each frame in order to capture the pose. In a next step we introduce an extension of the SOM to 1D and 2D segments for an improved representation and skel...
متن کاملRobust Real-time Human Hand Localization by Self-Organizing Color Segmentation
In Proc. of ICCV99 Workshop RATFG-RTS, Greece, 1999 This paper describes a robust tracking algorithm used to localize human hand in video sequences. The localization system relies mainly on an automatic color-based segmentation scheme combined with the motion cue. An automatic self-organizing clustering algorithm is proposed to learn the color clusters unsupervisedly in the HSI space without sp...
متن کاملVisual object tracking by an evolutionary self-organizing neural network
In this paper, a recently proposed evolutionary self-organizing map is extended and applied to visual tracking of objects in video sequences. The proposed approach uses a simple geometric template to track an object executing a smooth movement represented by affine transformations. The template is selected manually in the first frame and consists of a small number of keypoints and the neighborh...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Self-Organizing Color Segmentation Algorithm with Application to Robust Real-time Human Hand Localization
In Proc. Asian Conf. on Computer Vision, Taiwan, 2000 This paper describes an adaptive self-organizing color segmentation algorithm and a transductive learning algorithm used to localize human hand in video sequences. The color distribution at each time frame is approximated by the proposed 1-D self-organizing map (SOM), in which schemes of growing, pruning and merging are facilitated to find a...
متن کاملLandforms identification using neural network-self organizing map and SRTM data
During an 11 days mission in February 2000 the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) collected data over 80% of the Earth's land surface, for all areas between 60 degrees N and 56 degrees S latitude. Since SRTM data became available, many studies utilized them for application in topography and morphometric landscape analysis. Exploiting SRTM data for recognition and extraction of topographic ...
